My Gordian Knot, Unpicked

I'm putting an XU10J4R from an early '99 Xantia in a Berlingo. I intend to splice the looms and use the key chip as designed - not a chav unlock. Will be using the Berlingo clocks, too.

Have stripped the donor looms out and have been snipping away totally redundant stuff like blinkers, power windows, Hydractive, radio harness etc. What you see here is the current "state of play" with the donor dash wires. :shock:

A lot more needs to go, but I need some urgent help with diagrams for the RF locking box (not deadlocking, not alarmed) and dash wiring (telltales and senders). It's just too different from the Pug 605 and Berlingo arrangements, for suitable guesswork.

The dash harness is chockers with redundant wires as its the same loom for Activa, Hydractive, LX, V6, HDi, alarm or not, deadlocking or not, etc etc. So there are heaps of telltales that do nothing. The main engine bay harness is similarly loaded up with redundancies including aux power and heating.

At the end of it all, I need to make sure the ECU - only 55 pins - is receiving correct inputs, and that the outputs are being received correctly. This is how I can remain relatively calm about it...

I'd better fire up the scanner I guess....

So, you want the relevant schematic and harness diagrams that relate to an S2 2.0 16V I presume.

I'll see what I can do. Won't be today, will try to do so tomorrow if that's OK...

Just before I do fire up the scanner, what engine ECU is it? Bosch, Sagem or Magnetti Spaghetti?

Speaking of spaghetti :roll: :lol:

It's a Bosch 5.2 engine ECU, you've previously posted the 5.1 pinouts but some numbering varies. The clocks' wiring and all immobiliser pin outs are the really sticky bits.

If the client is pretty, do you get to road test it with her for a night to check your workmanship? I think you should :wink:

They're not that bad Simon, you just need to know how to read them... Most useful are the harness diagrams as that's how the car is physically wired...

Ta, that's a great start to the simplifying of things. Weather's chucking it down presently (albeit at 0400H) so the next session may be a day off.

No road tests on beds, I was a bad dog on NYE and feel I'm only just off the hook now!

Starting to get it together.

The engine is sat in place, sans PAS pump, AC compressor, all wires and water outlet housings. Have pruned all the auto box stuff from Harness 22.
