Key bits, where to get?

Post by pseud »

Hello

Keys?

I've been looking, but haven't found where to get one of the bits in the attached photo?

It's the key bit from the C5 key fob (here: http://www.gallalock.com/en/car-keys-re ... emote.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;)

There seems to be loads of other key bits for loads of other Citroen key fobs on that site - but no blank blades for the C5 key fob. Or, is it possible to somehow fit these http://www.gallalock.com/en/car-keys-re ... blade.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; to the hilt of one of the bits in the attached photo?

(I understand it should come with a transponder in it to be set with a Lexia and there are a number of posts on that subject.)

Thanks,
Morgan.

Someone at the main dealer once told me he could sell me a blank blade for about £10 then I could take it to a locksmith to cut it.

This was a general chat on the phone after I'd temporarily mislaid one key and the other was in the door pocket inside the car, and I was enquiring about replacement price etc.

Not really the answer to your question, but Mr Minit branches seem to be one of the few places that keep (and can cut accurate keys from) Citroen-compatible blanks and not expensive. Of course you could simply go to a main stealer and order a new key and fob.......you'll need to take the V5 Registration document, your passport (or other evidence of identity), a Utility bill (or other evidence of residence at the V5 keepers address) and a well-stuffed credit card.

Mine was from http://www.carkeyhelp.co.uk" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;, rather than gallalock.com.
This might be all you need, I got a complete key with transponder, just as a spare key. For swapping the blade out it looks like you just drill a couple of holes and then glue the new blade in.

I did consider it, but their site is rather confusing on getting the key you're ordering cut, so opted against it, carkeyhelp was more straight forward, as all the cutting/transpoder options are on the same page as the key, so I knew what I was getting :)

Wasn't clear - yes, have the fob in bits and Lexia to reprogramme - I just didn't seem to be able to locate a blade bit that looks like the one that comes out of the fob (with swivel).

So, I just drill those holes out and a new blade (http://www.carkeyhelp.co.uk/product_ima ... 1_zoom.jpg" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;) should just pop in...???
