I have to say, the head on test is mighty impressive actually... Theres no to little distortion of the roof or windscreen, and little movement.. I wonder if this is also true for the dash board and steering wheel....

Im rather impressed with that test....

The combination of crash safety, ability to carry 5 'full sized' adults, and the very low used prices of the C5, especially the petrol model, were the factors which swung my purchase just over 3 years ago.

We used to run an old Toyota, which was by far the best built and most reliable vehicle I have ever owned (which is why they are popular with 'insurgents' and wilderness explorers alike, world wide). I assumed it would do well in a crash, but then I saw the results of one involving a Range Rover Sport on the motorway. The Range Rover driver (drunk/drugged) hit the Toyota (same model as mine) and pretty much crushed it. The drunk piece of s--t in the Range Rover walked away, but the people in the Toyota were all dead at the scene - Mum, Dad, and two young children.

After seeing the results of that crash my Toyota had to go - for something with a high NCAP rating (and which didnt break the bank).

Although I've used the ABS a few times (especially in the recent snow) I hope I never get to test the airbag curtains and safety cage.

The Swedish insurance company Folksam have conducted their own survey that examines actual crash results rather then those in the video above and although a lot of cars seemed to be in reasonable accordance with NCAP testing, others didn't.

The C5 came off very well, particularly the facelift and most recent models that scored very highly.
