fuel guage faulty

Post by martyn48 »

hi my 306 cab has developed a fuel gauge fault.the low fuel warning light is always on even if i put £20 of fuel in.ive fitted different clocks but the fault is still there i have taken the multi plug of the sender /fuel pump and the light is still on surely that cannot be right if there is no power getting to the unit any  folks

Unless I'm mistaken the gauge will read nil and the light stay illuminated when the multiplug is disconnected, from your description I suggest a faulty sender unit in the tank might be the cause.

Take the sender out, put a multi-meter on the plug and move the float up and down. You should see the resistance varying as you move the float. If not, then faulty sender.
