Changing battery on HDI

Post by isisalar »

I need to change the battery on my HDI soon. As it's not possible to de activate the alarm without a lexia, what do you do?
Or is ear ache inevitable?
Any precautions needed?(I don't mean earplugs)
Is it possible to change the battery without interrupting the power supply with a third battery?
Kind regards
Paul

The easiest way is to use a third/slave battery connected to either the cigarette lighter or the battery cables as this maintains the radio code, re the alarm when you re-connect the alarm will go off, simply lock and unlock the car quickly with the remote, job done.

Why all this unnecessary complication ? We're talking about a Xantia here.

The alarm will only go off if the car is locked and the alarm if armed at the time the battery is disconnected...if the car is unlocked then by definition the alarm will not be armed and will NOT go off when the battery is disconnected.

Nor will the alarm go off when the battery is reconnected. Why would it ?

To the OP - just make sure you have your radio code and/or immobiliser code if applicable before disconnecting the battery. You have nothing to fear disconnecting the battery on a Xantia.

I changed the battery on my hdi a couple of years ago. Horrendous operation - I had to take the old one out and then put the new one in . . . and then turn the key and listen to it whiz round :-D

And I did it all on my own  =D>

I was wary because my previous two Xantia's alarms would sound when the battery was disconnected and the siren had not been de activated with the key. It's not possible to do this with a Hdi Exclusive.

Series TWO Xantias dont have the silly "Need to reset the Alarm" procedure like Series ONE Xantias!

Simply swap batterys... and drive away! Oh, and re enter your radio code! Thats it.. Theres NO Alarm reset procedure needed on S2 Xantias...

C5's are even easyer! When you refit a battery just wait 5 mins and drive away! No need to enter ANY codes what so ever, not even a radio code....
