is it worth running an oil cleaner through next time I get o

Post by boristhespie »

Will be doing oil change soon and recently read about running an oil cleaner through the engine and how this will extend engine life and improve performance. The garage told me before that these cleaners were "a load of pointless pish". I would like to keep car tip top so does anyone know whether this would be worth it?
C'est pas possible!

There's a thread elsewhere that goes into this. Someone will point it out, I can't find it. I agree with your garage, others don't..

Mind you, it did get rather heated.

It could depend on how often you change your oil, on the old XUDs I changed mine every 5000 miles and the engine was always clean inside, if its an Hdi you have you can leave it a bit longer but I wouldn't go beyond 8000.

i would think if it hasn't been used all the cars life, there's no point in starting to use it once the cars mileage gets up into higher figures
