206 110HDI Anti-pollution fault

Post by Zutalors »

Evening chaps and chapesses; the title says it all really - my 206 HDI110 Sport has come up with "Anti-pollution fault" warning on the central display, at just coming up to 60,000 miles. Still starts and runs fine, and sometimes the warning goes away for a few days.

The car does do a lot of short journeys with Mrs Zutalors, although I try to use it at weekends and give it a good run. I have put in a half-tank of BP Ultimate together with a bottle of injector cleaner, gave it a run at high revs and I asked my friendly mechanic if he could look at it but he doesn't have the equipment where he works. I think it may be DPF related, but the filter I don't think is fully blocked as there are no other symptoms.

So, before I risk a call to the local Pug dealer (Arm & a Leg Motors Ltd) is there anything else to try, or is there an independent specialist in the Cambridge area who could take it on?

Help and advice, as always, much appreciated.

Hi Iain;

Many thanks for that - looks like there is a guy even closer, 'zooanski' is in Haslingfield which is only about four miles away, I'll join up and track him down. Cheers!!

Quite possible that the fault is not the dpf, unfortunately the Anti pollution fault message just means that something is wrong with absolutely anything under the bonnet :)
Could just as easily be the erg valve. One thing for sure is that the 1.6 hdi is a pretty delicate unit, and the worst thing to put on one is a dpf. Best removed altogether if possible, we have done my sons and deleted the erg, it runs beautifully now with loads of torque, and excellent economy.

Well, we have the answer...thanks to a member of (whisper it....) the 'other' forum I was able to get the fault code read and it is the glow plugs. Booked in next week with an independent workshop and then back to get the electronics updated to show that they have been done - Robert est votre oncle, as they say.... :wink:
