C5 how good or bad?

Post by jelly »

Hi after buying an 03 reg C5 HDI, had Citroen's before C3's but new ones and was happy with those, and being happy so far with my C5 having done about 4k miles but being a bit concerned by the comments even from a garage owner about the reliability. Company I worked for before ran a couple of Picasso's to high mileages 350k to 450k which was the other Citroen I considered have I made the right choice :?:

Don't listen to people slating C5s and Citroens in general. 9 times out of 10 they have very little idea and have never owned a Citroen or if they have its been a neglected one.

C5s are not bad at all, I've had three. :-D

Ask yourself why so many taxi firms run C5s.

My C5 has been the most problematic and expensive to fix car that I've had, but somehow it's still the best car I've owned! :?: Really not sure how that works

^ It's the V6 that does the trick. I have a smile on my face after every trip I make with the car.
In Finland we have this thing called Reilu Meininki

Mr. Coastline Taxis of this parish runs a fleet of C5 taxis and there is another in Hartlepool.

dont ever get 2.2 hdi, crap on fuel saw an old man with a 2 liter 04 reg, owned from new ,says its expensive to fix and always something wrong with it,he didnt know it had a fuel comp, lol. showed him how to work it,reading 34.6 mpg never been reset, that is rubbish for a diesel, shame they use peugeot engines, cos they are sh#t,lol.just like the cars, citroen should use vw engines, always loved citroens,cx,bx,now c5,the dreaded 2.2,
had petrol mondeo auto that did 32 mpg in hilly areas,if u want fuel econemy,vw is the way ;-)
Citroen c5 is nice big and safe.

More C5 taxis round here than anything else - including one or two Mk 3s now.

C5 Taxis here too, and usually the busiest operators too.. Bear in mind that it's nearly always negative comments you get when asking about a car, because the thousands of happy owners don't find it neccessary to shout about it, only the owners who have neglected the servicing and expect a car to run forever, or some who have bought duffers. That happens with all makes of car, including Vw's Merc's, BMW etc.
My first C5 was a Mk 1 in 2001, and in 3 years of ownership it required a set of front discs and pads, nothing else apart from service costs. I now have a Mk111 and I wouldn't swop it for any VW, or my S type Jag. Terrific car if properly looked after, and bought with careful checks first.
Rick.

Not swap c5 for passat, u not driven one then, lol. Nothing compares to a vw, I like c5 cos of large interior, and cheap to buy plus fancey suspension, .,but vw is the cream of the crop, :-D
