Towbar Wiring C5 2004

Post by 10051550 »

Guys,

About to fit a towbar to my 2004 C5 Estate - nothing flash, just to tow a trailer

Now I have read you need a smart relay and other say just splice in to existing wiring ?

Anyone have experience of either ?

Many Thanks for all replies ..........

as the c5 is a multiplex system i would use the smart relay to save having any problems they arnt expensive from ebay. im fitting one to mine soon and it will be getting one. but in the end the choice is yours.

For the price they are, it's advisable to fit one. Mine has been in service now for seven years and its done a lot of towing. Wires were just spliced at the rear light units. Don't forget you'll need provision for a flasher warning when your trailer's connected. The Smart relay will give you that.
