I have read with interest on several locations about this issue and seem to find the brake light switch as the fault. I have fixed/replaced it but still the same. The problem is a serious loss of power, I can hear the turbo spinning so that works. the car starts and idles perfect but when I drive it there is no power, a slight hill which I used to be able to pull and accelerate quickly on in 3 is now in 2nd with no increase in speed just foot to the floor. what is the cause of this, my engine light is on and it frequently drops in and out of limp home mode, usually when trying to overtake a lorry doing just 55 which can be scary as the oncoming cars in the lane don't expect me to be slowing down while overtaking!!!!it was serviced recently (about August time) and changed oil filter, oil and fuel filter.
I need help please....

Air flow meter. May not have failed completely, but if it goes out of range you struggle to climb above 65mph. I ran mine on the dyno last year when I suspected it wasn't running right.....55bhp!
£70 later and normal service was resumed. The brake light switch thing is nonsense.....if that fails it almost cuts power ENTIRELY!
EGR valve can cause it too, but they throw up the EML usually. The air flow meter didn't even show up on OBD though a Lexia would have noticed it I'm sure.

The OP did say the EML was coming on...kitchD6C wrote: EGR valve can cause it too, but they throw up the EML usually.
Best bet would be to find a nearby forum member with a Lexia to find out exactly what the EML is complaining about, saving a lot of trial and error and guesswork...

As a quick test, try disconnecting the MAF and see how it runs then, usually makes a good improvement if its broken.

Didn't in my experience. Only way I knew it was duff was when I bit the bullet and just ordered one.Lighty wrote:As a quick test, try disconnecting the MAF and see how it runs then, usually makes a good improvement if its broken.

Ah missed that! still more likely to be AFM I reckon though. EGR doesn't usually cause it to be that flat.Mandrake wrote:The OP did say the EML was coming on...kitchD6C wrote: EGR valve can cause it too, but they throw up the EML usually.

Anyway, here's my Picasso on the dyno with the aforementioned issue:
Here it is, with new AFM:
And here it is now:
well it would be if the remap hadn't eaten the clutch
