Under Pressure

Unread post by Chevron »

I've recently bought a Xantia 1.9TD(1996). I bought this car from a salvage company with no known history. The regulator was leaking, and in a rush to save cash, I've fitted a secondhand one from an 'S' estate. The question is, will the estate's regulator be calibrated to operate at a different pressure than the hatchback I've got, and if so is this likely to be dangerous to other components? And could somebody difinitively describe the ticking intervals I should expect from a fully operational regulator/accumulator.
Many thanks to all those who replied to my last request for help.

Your second hand regulator should be OK, providing it's serviceable. The clicking should be heard once every 30 to 60 seconds. The longer the interval the better. Anything between zero and 30 indicates a low pressure.
