Xantia headlining removal

Post by Bannedbiker »

Hi all!!!

How easy is it to remove (or at least drop the rear half) of the headlining on a S2 Xantia.

I've had a search and it seems to be "remove the grab handles, pull the door seals down, remove trim from pillars, and pull the headlining away from mastic holding it at the rear". Is there anything else I should know?

It's Lx spec with no sunroof if it helps.

There is a 'clonking' sound from the rear part of the roof (or at least that's where I think it's from) and I've got to try and fix it before it drives me totally mad.

Heres hoping [-o< !!!!

Hi Martin
Mines a series 1 and my Citroen dealer had it down about 6-7 years ago to renew some of my sunroof components.
I think it wasn't to bad as they were willing to work on a price and if you're careful will go back up again fine, you can't tell with mine its ever been down :)

Hopefully someone on here will have more details as to the sequence to take with it 8-[ :-D

regards

The only issue is that the edge of the headlining nearest the tailgate opening is glued to the roof and therefore needs to be teased down very gently to prevent tears... The adhesive used is like pitch. I've used industrial Velcro to hold it up on refitting rather than try to find a suitable adhesive... You'll need to drop the top of the tailgate sealing rubber before teasing the edge as the rubber lip also goes some way toward holding the edge in place.

To fully drop after teasing the rear edge away from the roof, remove all grab handles, the rear C pillar trims and pull down both rear door seal rubbers. The lining should then be free to drop...
