Activa tuning

Unread post by turbo201 »

Hi
Has anyone on this forum modded an Activa turbo?
If so,have you managed to get it past 14psi and if so ,how?
Thats the pressure mines running at the moment(I estimate about 190-200 bhp but until the rollers I won't know for sure) but as soon as you get sustained boost(ie in 4th/5th)at 15psi there is a violent fuel cut.The 2 companies that make chips for this car don't get rid of this restictor as the boost pressure they have it running is less than this.
Judging by the way the car has been running for the last 5k running 14psi,I reckon it can go further without to much probs.Trouble is,without info on the fuel cut it ain't gonna happen.
So any info would be appreciated
Cheers
Mike

Is the fuel cut at 15psi a safety to prevent detonation of the fuel?

The cut off is probably there to save your engine. If you increase the boost pressure a lot, the fuelling system can't keep up, you need a more powerful pump and larger injectors, otherwise you will get fuel starvation = overheating, not very nice if you want to keep the mill in one piece. Some people have fitted water injection to help lower the temperature of the mixture and others have increased the size of/or airflow through, the intercooler, both of which give more power.

Some people fit a fifth injector in the inlet manifold. So you have multi point plus an additional common injector to richen the mixture
