'01 Scenic Top Engine Mount - Replacement

Unread post by gadgetgricey »

Scenic 2001 2.0 Automatic.

Just looking for some guidance regarding process to get this changed as never done anything like this before.

I presume its just a case of Block of wood under engine, jack up engine to take off the pressure and replace the mount.

Just concerned that I might be over simplyfying things too much.

Any help/advice would be great.

Cheers

Dave

Nothing ground breaking or incisive from me but these days I tend to go straight to youtube and paddle about and see whats there to help (after the FCF of course!).

Usually there is at least an american giving the benefit of their experience.

Nothing scenic specific but one of the first hits on you tube was this:-

engine mount replacement

I guess the main point is that if you use a jack rather than a "cherry picker", or a brace bar, then replace one side at a time, and use the jack to support rather than jack up the engine. Spreading the load with the long block of wood across the subframe/sump may also avoid putting an unnecessary dint or worse in the sump.

There may be problems with access room for undoing the various bolts-I dont know on a scenic but I'm sure the good old Haynes if nothing else will be a good start point
