Well just when I thought it was safe to put the tool boxes away! after whittling down the mirad of faults on my project car to a single post heat short to positive. I took it to have all the wheels balanced this morning on my way back from my daughters this evening ESP/ASR failure came up on screen and service light came on. Just stuck the lexia on it and it says "Steering angle sensor not coherent ."
Anybody got any idea why this should occur and more importantly is there a simple fix?
I have been driving it around for weeks without a problem.

If you have the Lexia, enter the Suspension menu ( I think) and you should be able to recalibrate the steering sensor.
I'd have an empty car park to hand as it requires you to drive in a straight line for so far.

Did you have the tracking done as well by any chance ? This normaly requires the steering angle sensor to be re calibrated afterwards.

No just the balancing on all 4 wheels.
