heater resistor mudule

I am asking a question on behalf of my brother who has an 03 hdi C5.... he had trouble with the heaters and the garage said it was the resistor....he bought a new one and put it in and heaters came on, but then go no and off periodically. He sent it back for a new one and this is doing the same... He also said the resistor is getting too hot to touch,is that normal?? has he got the wrong resistor for his car?? THe guy who sold it him says it should work but two now are not working correctly so it's either a problem elsewhere or the resistor is the wrong one?? any advice would be much appreciated,thanks.....

I haven't had any problems with mine yet so can't speak with any authority but I would check the power supply to the motor, I take it that this is working intermittently. The blower takes a lot of current and is prone to burning out connectors and fuseholders (in the XM anyway) so I would put a meter across it when it doesn't work and see if you have any voltage present.

the resistor does get hot and will burn your hand if your not carefull
