Well I got to experience the joys of a Renault dCi engine this morning first hand.
A well looked after car, 89k miles, not abused at all, serviced regularly and still it ends up this way - and people ask me why all my Renaults are petrol
After I took that clip I drove the car a few hundred yards and the inevitable happened. Car revved itself up to full whack and started shooting all of it's oil out of the exhaust, had to put it in 6th and stall it. Completely engulfed itself in a cloud of white smoke and attracted plenty of attention!
Well done Renault, a very fine design indeed

Is this one you bought from the auctions luke??
Its a good way to test the brakes isnt it to try and stall the engine if your already moving

What causes this Luke ? Our old 1.9Dci was faultless over 5 1/2 yrs and the father inlaws scenic wasn't any trouble either after 6 1/2 yrs .

That's not good, but quite spectacular I bet.
I passed a VelSatis on the way home this evening. I looked over at the door to notice it said 2.2dci, I can only assume the car In front had a tow rope attached to it

Re: A quality Renault Laguna dCi
Mark, the most common cause is the turbo oil seals perishing. This leads to oil spilling nicely into all the wrong places. Seems to be luck of the draw really, I've seen 1.9 dCis with 200k miles. You're lucky to have had not only one, but TWO good ones!
Slightly harsh, Chris, but I'll give you that lol!

Very! You know I like them. If I do ever get one it will be a petrol, and you know how much I like diesels too!R9UKE wrote: Slightly harsh, Chris, but I'll give you that lol!

Re: A quality Renault Laguna dCi
You'd be ok with the 3.0 dV6, Chris - Renault had nothing to do with it!! And ruling out diesels will leave you with the 3.5 V6 as the turbo on the 2.0T isn't much better!
