Looking to get a set of bulbs to keep for spare if one of mine blow, not the sort to drive with a light out for a few days.
Seen these (there are cheaper) they look a little like premium brands with the metal support around the base.

Why not try these http://www.hidorigin.com/blesk-d2r-xenon-bulb.html if you read all the blurb they seem to think they are almost as good as philips and only £46.50 a pair

Their construction is totally different as they aren't bulbs as such as in having a filament, essentially they are akin to a arc welding rod producing light, for further information take a look at this link.oneday wrote:why are these bulbs so expensive and are the costs worth it
As to whether they are worth it well once you've been driving a car fitted with them for a while, going back to a car with halogen lights is like the car has two oil lamps for headlights.

Yes! purchased two of the bay, one broke on fitting (plastic molded pin) due to me trying to fit with the headlight in situ. Other fitted o.k and been working ever since, 2yrs plus though tis a slightly different colour.
As DickieG says once you've had them conventional lights seem more than a little lacking, mind I still think they are overkill for normal driving and can be definitely painful and disorientating for drivers facing them in some cases where they are badly set up which seems to be an increasing number in my experience.
Would advise sticking to 4500 Kelvin the higher you go the blue'r the light but the human eye is actually more receptive to light at the lower ranges.
