sorry to be a pain, the 1.6 gearbox seemes easier to get hold of than the 1.4s....any differences

how good is that peugeot servicebox thing, the 1.4 and 1.6 both have part number 222AL anyone know if thats accurate

I do not think there'd be much in it between the transmission for the 1.4 and the 1.6

What you really want to avoid is fitting a petrol or diesel gearbox to the other fuel type as that will be too far out one way or another with final drive.

mine is a 1.4 hdi.....i won an auction on the for a gearbox from an xsara 1.4 hdi, but the seller was adamant it would not fit, the number on it was 20DM53 where as i since discovered mine is 20DM14 im really surprised pug and citroen use a different box on the same engine.......getting annoyed now as need thiscar on the road asap

sorted, got a box for £85 with the correct part number, had to do a 120 mile round trip to get it mind lol
