Synergie water leak

Post by MPV »

I seem to have a water leak on the joint between the rad and the top hose from the thermostat. There doesn't seem to be anything I can do about it as it kind of plugs in and has a slide in clip to hold it in place, so it's not like tightening a jubilee clip. What can I do? Is there an o-ring or something that needs to be replaced inside the joint? If you wiggle the hose, there does seem to be a fair bit of movement in the joint.

if its like the XANT fitting mine the metal fitting had rusted away so it could not support the O ring as it should,

if you send me the last 8 digits of your chassis/VIM No. i will get price and part No. for the hose, just in case thats what you require

Cheers for that. I think the metal end is ok, it doesn't look rusty. I had a replacement engine put in only about 4000 miles ago and they replaced the rad and most of the hoses, so it should be ok. My other half is using the Synergie at the moment, so I don't have access to the VIN no. until the weekend. I'm just hoping it's not going to run dry while I'm away!

If its coming from the joint, take it apart give it a good clean and run a ring of silicone sealant round it and let it set overnight, ordinary bathroom sealer will do, makes a nice aquidgy gasket.

I still haven't had a chance to sort the hose leak yet, but strangely, the water level in the expansion tank has suddenly gone up! It is now above the maximum line. I took some out, but it is still above the max line. It has been like this for a couple of weeks now, with no sign of it going down and water still leaking a tiny bit from the rad hose. Please don't tell me the head has gone? :(
