On my Xantia, I've always used Purflex, as that was what Citroen originally supplied me with, though I've subsequently got them from GSF (when in stock)

You mention possibly using a Halfords one . My story on this is that many moons ago, I fitted a Halfords own make oil filter to a friend's MGB, and the bearings then rattled on start up, which it had never done before. Tried a Unipart filter, and rattle gone. So I'd never ever consider using a Halfords one.

Might be best using genuine purflux filter some of the lesser filters can have dodgy non-return valves. Part number you want is 1109 t1, equivalent to 1109 t0. Theres a chap on ebay selling them for £5.99 inc postage, or if you think you will have the car for a while he sells 10 for £33.00

I only ever use Citroen branded oil filters. I know Citroen don't make them and there are other companies who offer very good quality filters. However with the Citroen branded ones there is obviously no question over their quality or their internal design.

You can pick them up cheaply too, check around on ebay and you will find. Or if you have a friendly Citroen dealer, they might well do you a good discount.
