Hi all,
I find my underbody windshield cover deteriorating and falling off. Please see the attachments. I read from other Citroen forum that it is a common problem that C5 doesn’t have reliable and lasting underbody windshield.
Do you have the same problem?
I wonder should I find a replacement. Are these windshield a necessity in the 1st place?
Kindly advise me and Thank you very much.
Regards,

Re: Underbody windshield for C5
The windshield is quite important, as it helps to hold in place the wheel arch liners, and in turn the security of the front bumper.
I know from experience that they are very expensive. Most cars now have these items, and it is the lack of lubrication on the fixings that causes them to get damaged on removal. The new " wide mouth " front cars are terrible, as th bolt heads of the front fixings, protrude in front of the rad and hence are in the airflow.Even at 1st removal , they are often seized.
I think you should replace the item if you can, but lubricate all the fixings,

Re: Underbody windshield for C5
Lost mine twice, first time front dropped and underdraft pushed it on to the road (Motorway at 70) and by the time I stopped it was shredded. New one was over £100!!
Second time it did the same (stupid clip fixings!!) so I got a large plastic baker's tray, made my own and fixed it with cable ties. (cut and replace each service for next to nothing).
Never came off again!
On C5 s1 the air intake feeds from the bottom so shield also reduces amount of debris into the air box.

Re: Underbody windshield for C5
The fixings which are supposed to hold the C5s undertray on are next to useless. Often when I have serviced the car and drive it again for the first time I hear a pinging down the underside of the car as the pins drop out. I have taken to securing the underbelly with tie wraps now. Easy to put on, easy to take off and done fall off. I've never lost an under tray yet.

I bought a replacement undertray on eBay for £45, its a pattern part made in Poland but it does the job perfectly. Here's a link for a diesel undertray, but he also does a petrol version.

interesting.. I was going to ask this Q today.. I am due to go to the flooded part of UK in 4 hours.. will look to disconnect the air intake further upstream, if I encounter any floods..On C5 s1 the air intake feeds from the bottom so shield also reduces amount of debris into the air box.
