Wrong spheres!!!!
Hi all, as previous posts I've been trying to sort the harsh ride out on the Xantia well finally went ti GSF where I bought the spheres from to get some hydroflush. Bought it and just as I was leaving thought I would ask the guy the part numbers for the spheres turned out the guy who sold me the spheres had given me hydractive front spheres instead! Anyway the manager agreed to give me the proper front spheres free. Hopefully this will cure the ride along with the hydraflush.
Does anyone know if any damage would of occurred running hydractive spheres?
Cheers, Chris.

Re: Wrong spheres!!!!
I am not sure and someone will correct me here.
I am quite sure .. the only thing that suffers is only the ride.. no harm is done on the system.

Re: Wrong spheres!!!!
I'm assuming he was initially given Hydractive strut spheres not regulator spheres... that would give a really firm ride...if it really was two regulator spheres being put on the strut positions that would be VERY dangerous to drive at speed with no damping.citroenxm wrote:The car wil be soooooo soft with ZERO damping... but no issues..

Re: Wrong spheres!!!!
I've seen at least another couple of cars with the incorrect spheres fitted after being supplied by GSF
so it's always a good idea to check very carefully the markings printed on them. It's the easiest thing
to mix up when they look identical to the casual eye and the first thing to suspect when replacement
spheres are fitted and don't have an immediate fix to the ride!

Re: Wrong spheres!!!!
my local GSF supplied 1 C5 type corner sphere for a BX????, i mentioned this a few weeks back in another thread,
and Sir Jim said i would have fun fitting it,
cant remember what thread it was in and did not see if Jim replied,
as far as i Know Andy ( Mothman ) has not attempted to fit it as yet

Hydractive spheres will make it a bit rock-hard Chris. I pleased you've discovered this!

Re: Wrong spheres!!!!
Hi all, I'm still at my witts end with this hard ride, double checked the ride height with a a tape measure and both front and back are well within tolerance, bounce test is smooth and goes right down at least 4 inches on all corners!
Anyone in the Cardiff or surrounding area fancy giving it a test drive before I end up taking it the Citroen specialist!
Cheers, Chris.

Doesn't seem to be any better Jim! Possible duff spheres but it does bounce ok though!
Cheers Chris.

Re: Wrong spheres!!!!
How bad is the ride? Better or worse than most conventional cars?
With good spheres it should ride well, even if the LHM is the freshest. You said you have checked ride height, its not a hydractive, and it can be pushed down by 4"s. Are the height correctors free? Its self levelling once you have got in the car?
Im not sure what else to suggest.

Re: Wrong spheres!!!!
Only 5 spheres in mine, sinker. Put hydroflush in around 300 miles ago all spheres are new, ride height is within the spec limits, have no idea what else unless the new spheres are shot but I would of thought they wouldn't pass the bounce test if they were shot. Height correctors work fine both turrets were removed and greased.
Would really love to get it riding smooth as it's an early sinker and there's not a great deal of them left now!

Re: Wrong spheres!!!!
Hmm, odd. A sinker really should be the softest. Are your spheres definitely correct this time? If they have wrongly sized damper holes or incorrect pressure they will of course give a different ride.
Did you notice any difference at all when swapping from the incorrectly supplied ones to the current ones?

Re: Wrong spheres!!!!
Didn't really notice any difference, maybe the hydroflush has done some work in the 300 miles and has blocked the filters already, wishful thinking will have to check! Apart from that I have tried everything!
Cheers.
