C2 1.4 Hdi intermittent problem with black smoke

Hi All,

Always promised I would not buy French, however the C2 is a little cheeky.

Being cheeky, it has developed a fault which I would appreciate your thoughts on.

Starts well, drives well. However, every now and then it feels like the turbo is not spooling and then there is a significant puff of black smoke from the rear. I have run injector cleaner through it and it has passed a UK MOT. Having removed the rubber pipe which runs from the MAF to the turbo, I note there appears to be oil in there and pooling (slight) in front of the turbo empeller. I assume therefore the turbo is sucking that oil in causing the loss of power and then the billowing smoke....

Oil level is correct and the turbo spindle does not have any play in it.

Is this a common problem and / or are there any areas I need to look at to resolve the issue?
