Re: xantia fuel needle
Most Xantia fuel gauges seem to be a bit non-linear although yours sounds more so than normal.
I'd suspect the tank sender unit has a bit of an issue but to be honest I'd not worry too much about it. Learn how many miles you can do for a given amount of fuel and watch the trip recorder rather than the gauge...
Those of us who run LPG tend to do that by habit because the LPG gauge is wildly inaccurate at the best of times...

Ah good to hear the replacement is a goodun, I recall the neelde falling very quickly on my first drive home and wondering whether it had a fuel leak or Activa fuel consumption was even worse than its reputationCitroJim wrote:It's still as good as gold RichardDickieG wrote:Duff sender unit, been there had that on my Activa.

Re: xantia fuel needle
It's bad enough Richard and using the Activa more these days I notice it. I can see why my XM was converted to gas. It makes great sense when running a TCT!DickieG wrote:Activa fuel consumption was even worse than its reputation

Re: xantia fuel needle
Well there IS also another part that fails that EVERY one seems to forget.
If you do change the sender and its still the same, it WONT be the guage, but if you remove the instruments, take the front plastic off remove the speedo theres a small "Daughter Board" fitted behind there... And it is actually this board that converts the level sender signal to the guage signal.. The guage and Level senders are NOT directly connected as many beleve they are.
Change this small board and there you are.
I only know this as an owner had a P reg 1.8 petrol, and he swapped the tank unit twice and still had a fault, I swapped the guage, the same. Then I stuided the "Tracks" on the back of the speedo unit and discovered the small board. Swapped it from another and its been fine ever since for the last 3 years.
