Will an AUX Adapter work, even though my CD Player is broke?

Post by Slinnian »

I have a citroen C5, 2001 and my CD player is knackered, even though the radio works fine. I have seen you can buy AUX Adapters which fit into the back of the radio via the CD changer connection. I am wondering will this work even though my CD is broken and I assume the AUX then feeds through the CD player. Any help would be most grateful!!

thanks :-D

yes it should.. :)

I think internal cd player and external cd stack are seperate items ...

hopefully your stack outputs will behave properly, and you are good to go..
On mine, the connects -2 box fools headunit into thinking the stack is connected.. and basically plays one long track on the display screen when I plug my phone into it..

if the car doesn't currently have a six disc changer (or rather never did), then you may have to get six disc CD changer programmed in with Lexia, and on some cars it can be in various ECUs.
Once this is done there are quite a few options, just as the yatour / connects2 CD mp3 emulators, though if you are very fussy like me you will hear the difference, through aux adaptors, ipod adaptors, and a box to convert to Sony unilink protocol.
All of these things will pretend to be a six disc changer and work with the head unit.
Read about my experiments here

as far as I can tell the C5 CD six disc changer is the same as the 607 one

I would be tempted to repair your head unit. They are coded to the VIN number of the car so I don't know how you would fit a used replacement, but I but it you got a used one and gutted the mechanics and swapped them into yours it would restore it

in fact, I might want to sell on my Yatour unit soon, as I'm near to getting my Sony MP3 CD player to work
The yatour unit takes an SD memory card with up to 594 mp3 songs on it and plays it through the head unit as if it is a six disc changer with six discs with 99 track on
You can even use the normal steering wheel controls or whatever to navigate
The yatour unit is only a few weeks old so still on warranty etc.

Hi all, got it sorted thankfully. I bought one of those connects2 aux adapter which fitted into the back of the cd player (multi changer connection) and now the cd player thinks its connected to the multi changer, when in fact its connected to the aux, allowing me to play my tunes via my MP3 player! thanks for all the help, and thanks to dieselnutjob for the advice and offer :-)
