Remote central locking plips

Unread post by davewithington »

Ok, i know we've covered this before, but I can't find it on a search.

You may know that my Xantia is dead - two much damage to the front suspension to realistically repair myself - and while I'm looking for another, I've been lent a late BX TZD, which has a blue dome very like the Xantia central locking dome on the headlining.

What I was wondering is if my spare Xantia plipper will work the BX locking, and what is the procedure to get plipper and dome to recognise each other?

Should be a photo of my car here somewhere

The BX PLIPPER is like the Mk.1 XM PLIPPER, they are hard wired coded together with cuts in the cuircuit boards..

Im not sure if a Match Mk.1 Xantia reciver and plipper would work though.. They have the same plug in them..

Have you had a look at my Blue Xantia Dave? Its on the Bay...

Here. Theres a link to a video too, copy and aste it in your address bar..

Ah dave poor thing...

Bit of touch up paint, and all the parts off me will have her right as rain! Can even supply in white too in the form of a complete sinker in white!

Sad end to a nice tidy early S1...

The bodywork damage was actually quite minor when I'd stripped the front - just new bolt on panels and lights. What really put me off was the damage to the front suspension, both struts being bent, and possible lower arms, maybe the subframe. The left hand track rod end had sheared. Some force at work there.

I've got my eye on a really nice car, which I can't get to look at for another week. Good as the BX is, it feels very small after driving the Xantia.

Onward and upward anyway.

Dave, have you spotted the Xantia Activa up for sale on ebay. It is currently owned by Davexm, and other forum members reckon its' a nice car.

I don't think my wallet or insurance company would like me to have a turbo Activa, much as I might like it. I'm due for renewal and after the accident (which was not strictly my fault, but the chap who caused it b**gered off before I could get my hands on him) with the loss in no claims it's already doubled! Nice car tho.

Dave, I'd do exactly as citroenxm suggested, especially as it would seem he is prepared to donate parts to get her back on the road. By the way you are writing I'd say you rather liked that Xantia, and if you could, you'd want to get her back on the road.
