Anybody know?

Unread post by mrbump »

why my zx td fuel primer bulb never ever goes hard? I can pump it for 10 minutes and it always is the same as the last time?
it also takes a long time (5-10 SECS) to come bak to its noraml shape. Is there an air leak somewhere?

It may be that simple - you yet have to try the feeling of a SOFT bulb [:)]
What's your concerns anyway ?
The primer bulb usually live in peace untill it rot's away [8D]
- unless you have some problems - or do major service - on your engine ?

well, I have just done major servicing on the car, which did not cure all its problems. it still does not start too well, and amongst other things i was suspecting an air leak thats all.
cheers

Yes - likely to be an air leak then.
You may want to overhaul the filter/primer assembly - ensuring it's not simply leaking here.
Air leaks in primary fuel lines will cause the bulb endless soft on pumping.
A common problem is loose fit hoses on the filter assembly itself & on the tank - otherwise it's the general problems that apply :
Rotten (cracked/split) rubber hoses, rust/pin holes in the rigid pipes, loose fit pipe studs on any fuel components.
This should be checked/inspected before more serious problems suspected.

There may be a pinhole in the bulb itself. Rubber doesn't last for ever.

If your setup is anything like my AX there is a bleed nipple on the diesel filter housing. If this is not sealed the primer bulb never goes hard when pumped.
