The other day my speedo was actually reading 10mph slower than what i was actually doing and noticed that the speedo needle sat vwery low when i stopped, anyway i wasnt too bothered as my other c5 of the same year was sat on the drive.
ANYWAY TO CUT A LONG STORY SHORT,My c5 has done 119k(2007 56 PLATE) and the other c5 311k.(2006 55 PLATE)
I put the instrument cluster from the donor car into my car and it came up with 311k which i though oh well the mileage must be stored inthe instrument cluster,i also noticed that it brought up 'risk of particle filter blocking' which the other car had as well.
Anyway i changed the other instrument cluster back after i opened it up and moved the needle where it should be.
Put it back in the car,now that one says its done 311k now and the particle filter blocking is still showing...so somehow ive managed to clock my car forward and put a fault on it that isnt there.
Ive used my little diagnostic tool but cant get the fault or the mileage back to where it was.
Any suggestions or help??
Push comes to shove ive heard people come out and correct mileages but done actually know of anyone who does this
HELP!!

Re: CITROEN C5 INSTRUMENT CLUSTER
The C5 will always put the milage UP to the highest milage.. Its stored in the ECU, but it records an instrument change so puts the miles up...
Your little tool WONT turn the milage back, it should stop the pollution fault though. I dont think the Lexia Citroen Diagnostic toll will even turn the milage back.. I couldnt find it anyway...

Re: CITROEN C5 INSTRUMENT CLUSTER
That is the danger when swapping instrument clusters between C5s, they always take on the higher mileage
311K is very impressive for a relitively young car too, what finished it off?

Re: CITROEN C5 INSTRUMENT CLUSTER
Its not finished, still going strong but been sat on the drive since i got it tested end of august and then i bought the estate car.
Re: CITROEN C5 INSTRUMENT CLUSTER
ive disconnected the battery overnight and see what will happen will the particle fault in the morning, looks like i will have to get someone out who does mileage correction to come and sort the miles out
Re: CITROEN C5 INSTRUMENT CLUSTER
Yes the car will always take the higher mileage either from the instrument cluster or from the bsi unit, you will need a mileage correction to sort it. The dpf filter's are a pain in the a**e , i know a lot of people who are just deactivating them from the ecu via a remap or physically removing the dpf pipe and filter. Depending on where in the UK you are these guys may be able to help http://www.dw-mileagecorrection.co.uk
