Peugeot 307 1.4Hdi - EGR PROBLEM

Post by JAS »

Hello!!
I have a Peugeot 307 1.4hdi from 2004, and i have a problem with my egr valve, i will like to know if i can eliminate manually my egr valve with a blanking plate, it's possible? Can someone explain how i can do it? I will have any other problem?
Thank you very much.

There are some blanking plates on Ebay for these I think. Certainly the 8v models anyway. Blanking the EGR off is sometimes a sensible course of action. Usually involves removing the valve, installing the plate and putting the valve back. Would be worth asking seller if they include instructions if required.

An alternative on some designs is to unplug (and plug) the vacuum pipe on the valve, leaving the electrical connections alone so the ECU thinks its still there but without the vacuum it will not be able to open the valve. This will only really work if its shut in the first place though.

Thank you!
But if i put the blank in the egr, do i need to unplug (and plug) the vacuum pipe on the valve?
Do i still have the antipollution fault?

The fault code will need clearing with Planet or suchlike.

Regarding the vacuum pipe, it depends on the instructions with the plate, some you just fit the plate and then the valve over the top leaving it all connected. Ask the blanking plate seller for instructions. :)

There's also a lot of potential causes for the 'anti pollution' message as well, that could be anything from a sensor to a partially blocked exhaust to a bad injector.

Thank you all!
Bu assuming that the problem it's the egr valve, if i blanking it, but first clear the error.. will i have another time the error?
The blanking plate is this one http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/EGR-blanking- ... 0938099227" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
So, if i put it i don´t need to do anything more? I can leave the vacuum pipet plugged on the valve?

With that one, leave the wiring and pipe connected, the plate goes underneath the valve as far as I can see.

You will still need the error cleared though regardless.

Are you sure it is the EGR valve at fault ? , although blanking it is in my opinion a reasonably sensible idea anyway to be honest.

yes, I'm pretty sure it's the egr, however the van is already on peugeot to diagnose the error.
How so? Do not you advise to put the seal on egr blind?
My fear is that by placing the gasket on blind egr, start giving the same error, or to spoil anything.

Blanking the EGR will never cause an error, although it could cure one.

It will need diagnostics anyway, even if you choose not to blank it off (personally I would blank it off before it did cause problems)

Hello,

I have news about my problem actually what was the mistake of accusing anti-pollution, according to Peugeot, was fuel filter.
Was made changing the filter and to this day no error appeared.
You know 1.4HDI engine? What do you think of him?
Thank you.

The 8v HDi's are generally OK. I'd not personally want a 16v HDi nor the 1.6 unit. It would have to be a 1.4 or a 2.0 but that's my personal opinion simply as there seems to be more problems with the others, some might say some of the concerns are due to extended service intervals or generating too much power from too few cc, I'm not sure.

As I say 8v and 1.4 or 2.0 for me.
Andy.

Thanks for your quick reply.
My truck has the 1.4HDI engine with 179000km's and now I'm thinking about changing the oil, to 180000km's .. I am thinking of putting the Bp oil Visco 7000 5W40, what do you think?
By the way, what do you advise a driver of these, what kind of speed should I take each change?
I came from a gasoline engine, so I have some doubts about this engine ..
Thank you.

I'd want to change the oil in a diesel engine at 6000 to 10000 miles, no more than that, regardless of what the manufacturer said. :)

Change depends on road conditions and surroundings, although 2500 to 3000 seems ideal, although I don't really go very fast myself.

Exactly.
I also change the oil every 15000 km or about 9500 miles.
In terms of diesel filter, change how often do you advise?
Sorry these questions, but as I said I came from a gasoline car.
Thank you.
