C4 hdi error code

Unread post by Malty123 »

Ive had he codes read from my c4 after the ever popular antipollution fault

It came back p0087 fuel rail / fuel pressure too low

The error only occurs under hardish acceleration from standstill and reving it over 3k before a gear change...

I assume not enough fuel is getting in..

Any ideas?

Dirty fuel filter...? Faulty fuel pump...?

Thanks in advance

What size engine? if its a 1.6, then change the fuel filter, and then report back ;)

It's not that easy, sandwiched next to the battery, if you lift the air filter a bit, and remove the intake pipe, you can just get the filter out. There is a small part of the filter u need to exchange from the old one to the new filter.
Once you have it all back in place, pump the priming bulb(hard in this weather), until you can feel the fuel inside the bulb, this often takes ages. The bulb is on top of the rocker cover by the way.
I usually remove the green fuel pipe connector on top of the cam belt cover, this is the return pipe, so,keep pumping until fuel, flows from here, and it will be bled.

What holds the filter in place? Do the pipes need removing first or are they flexible enough to pull the filter out a bit first... I dont want to break anything...

Is there a guide to doing the job anywhere?

Thanks
