BE3/5 box and oil cooler worth keeping??

Unread post by citroenxm »

Im currently stripping out a TD Xantia - I was wondering, as the block is toast, due to a shrunk piston ring, I wasnt gonna take the block or box out...

However, the useual idiot feeling comes along, is it a shame to waste a be3/5 td gearbox, or is there a pleantyfull supply that I shouldn't worry, and let it go..

Also, should I rescue the oil cooler off the block too??

Thoughts??

Cheers

Yes, if the 'box is of the non-crunchie variety then it's worth keeping. If it crunches in any gear abandon it to its fate..

Ditto oil cooler.

You just know if it goes to the scrapyard you'll need one or the other the very next day.

Was waiting for that.... Ive got a BE3/5 box jim for spares, it has an issue in that it wont select 1st or 2nd. but will 3rd and 4th..

Ok then, its block and box out, and block back IN the car litterally.... Yes the box is the non crunch viriety... which suprised me, as when I removed the N/s driveshaft, I expected a rush of oil, buuuut..... nope... nothing, not even a dribble. I dont think its done much on nothing though..
