c5 hdi fuel pipe size

Post by C5Alan »

Can anyone tell me the size of the fuel pipe fitted to a 2003 2.0 hdi c5 I want to get some pre filters before I start running bio diesel so as to save the main filte. The ones I am looking at come in 6, 8, or 10 mm

Don't know the size, but... 1 - The LP pump on these runs at 3.5 bar at least so make sure any filer can take it; 2 - the HDi is not generally consideresd as suitable for bio, and any small saving you make will soon be wiped out if it lunches the HP pump and injectors....

there is someone else on here that ran their c5 on bio for over a year without any probs only stopping as the supply ended. I am not planning on making my own I dont have the space or time but planning on buying from a reputable source. The car is only worth scrap money due to the mileage and the list of niggles so it worth a try if it dies well it dies if it runs happy days. A pump and injectors cant be that hard to fit or that expensive anyway done them on my old merc plus saving £40-50 a month over regular diesel is a big incentive.

I am just going to buy a middle sized filter and hope

Dont think you will need any extra filtration to the one fitted as standard,
as the bio from a good source will be filtered and ready for the job.

Yeah but bio is known to clean out the gunk from your tank and pipes and you need to change the fuel filter a few times after you start using it so a clear pre filter should mean the main filter will last longer plus being easier to change when it gets clogged
