2002 Citroen 2.2hdi electrics

Post by JackyHerts »

Help
The C5 has started to have regular but unrelated electrical problems. All different and all worrying!
Just come back from 6wks in France towing a large caravan (reason for buying this car in the first place) - 2900mls with no problems on the towing front - however these are some of the examples which have all gone away by turning off the engine, leaving it and then restarting.

Wing mirrors may or may not turn out on start.
Diesel filter warning on screen.

Economy mode i.e nothing works except engine - not good in the middle of Grasse.
Pollen filter warning on screen.
2 days ago engine wouldn't start - immobiliser warning on trip computer. Turned back on and engine started.
Need I go on....

It will obviously have to go for a diagnostic check but has anyone come across this problem? If so is the outcome likely to send me straight on strong antidepressants!
Grateful for any advice given.

Poor battery can cause all sorts of problems, may start the car fine but could have a dead cell or something. Get battery checked by the garage with proper tester.

The diesel filter and the pollen filter do not have specific warnings, both are likely your Diesel Particulate filter.
Checking your battery 1st is the best advice already given, C5,s can do weird things when the battery is poor.

Thanks guys. Will check battery first and see how that goes.
Great if it was the battery or we might no longer be mortgage free [-o<
