Hydraulic rubber pipes Xantia

I have a Citroen Xantia Estate 1.8i '97.

Rubber pipe to the accumulator has a slit, can I cut the pipe and join with a joiner as it is rubber pipe. Been on to Citroen and a few parts dealers and am struggling to find replacement parts official or otherwise as Citroen say they no longer make this part. Any other suggestions would be welcome?

Any decent motor factors will carry a stock of different sized rubber pipe, take a bit with you to compare, you can join it with small bore plastic connectors (Garden centre) or metal pipe.

Silicon tubing used by boy racers for their turbo stuff is what I'm currently using.

That return is low pressure and doesn't even need clips to hold a join as long as the joiners is tight enough .. ive done one and used a bit of copper pipe..

Decent factors should also keep straight, 'T' and right-angle rigid plastic joiners in a variety of sizes (even unequal Ts). No good for the HP side of Citroen hydraulics but perfect for mending or making replacement leak-off pipes. When I have to buy a length of pipe or joiners, I get some spare - it costs me around £3 in fuel alone to go to my nearest factor so the economics are obvious.

I reckon my repair for the bottom Doseur valve leak-off pipe is better than the original - the soft plastic pipe was bent through a sharp 90° (where it eventually split!). My fix used plastic right-angle with a short piece of fuel pipe to connect it to the valve - I still have almost metre of pipe and a couple of joiners stowed in the boot for emergencies along with a length of injector leak-off pipe.
