Xantia rain sensor

Post by XantiaDaveEire »

My original post has dissapeared :-k

Long story short is that i had my windscreen replaced on Thursday but they fitted the wrong screen as it was for a Xantia without the rain sensor,He convieniently left before i could try the wipers and he never told me either

I went out today to see if i could connect the sensor back in but there is nothing that it connects in to

So before i go back over to the windscreen company is there anything else i can do to bypass the automatic function?

If i had the choice i would prefer to have no rain sensor in the 1st place ,there only a PITA ,they either work too fast or not fast enough

The taughts of forking out for another new screen is sickening :(

Simple fix is to call windscreen company and tell them wrong screen fitted, job done.

Just that!

Did you see your original post Dave, or did it just get lost in cyberspace?

As far as I'm aware no posts have been deleted other than the odd duplicate - and they are checked carefully to ensure that they are duplicates and not just similar posts.

My Xantia had the wrong screen, I connected the sensor up and put it back inside the rear view mirror, It worked as a bonus to me as it then worked as a normal intermittent wiper which was better to me than the auto wiper. Being honest though i new i had the wrong screen fitted, Where as they should tell you i remember there was quite a price difference between the 2 screens.

They sensor HAS to be fitted for the wipes to work correctly although intermittent won't work as the sensor cant see the water on the screen... all other functions will still work...

I went into my previous posts and it wasn't there nor was it in the Citroen forum #-o

I rang the company yesterday and he was apologetic and said he wasn't aware that one of the fitters had fitted the wrong screen etc

So they are coming out tommorow to replace the screen again but with the added cost of €55 for the correct screen as imperial stated.

Result :-D
