C5 diesel sucking in air

Post by marco f1 »

hi all a think my c5 is sucking in air when i rev it up there is a sound like its sucking in air i know the sound of the turbo but this seems a lot louder than normal.. and when i look under the bonnet there is a large pipe with 2 or more small pipes going into it witch have a valves on them and thay seem to be leeking oil these are at the front of the engine inthe middle.. i dont know what thay call it but one of the big pipes is a air pipe and i think it goes to the turbo

Sounds like the turbo pipe Marco, runs from the intercooler over the engine.
Have you noticed a fall-off in performance?
Worth removing that pipe and giving it a thorough inspection but you may be able to locate the leak by spraying the pipe with WD40 or similar with the engine running, the sound will change when the spray falls on the leaking bit.

It may be just the hose clips are loose too.

Don't the intercooler pipes run at positive pressure?

That's a thought

Possibly the pipe beside it that runs from the airbox to the turbo.
