Lexia

Post by allanmc »

Hi, I am still trying to find out what is wrong with my Lexia
, so I thought I would ask on the Forum, I cant get the Lexia to connect to the car what happens is the green light flashes but wont stay on and a warning comes up on the screen saying.

The Citroen communications interface is not connected to the USB port.

The communications interface is being used by another application.

There for the Citroen communication interface must be connected to the PC and the other application must be closed.

Validate to continue.

I hope someone can help please

Try:

Restart PC , do not have Lexia connected.

Start application.

Wait a bit for it to be 'ready' then plug the Lexia into the USB port.

Hmm.

If practical you could try removing / reinstalling the software.

Do you have any other USB devices connected ? , also try another USB port if you have more than one. Sometimes some do not have sufficient power output although that seems rare I think as the interface is not power hungry as far as I'm aware, it worked with an old laptop here (very old)

I've not really used mine properly so cannot offer much more advice.

I have an HD caddy that uses two USB ports so there must be 'Y' shaped connectors available for other purposes, may help.

To help diagnose USB problems, search for and download usbview.exe. This is a M$ utility, and may be on your Windows disk. It is run and terminate, so does not install anything on your computer.

It is worth trying, the info is sometimes a bit of help.

Elsewhere in the forum is a clear explanation of what the problem could be. Simply put, the Lexia may not be getting enough power (and, as you are using a laptop) this is more likely. The USB system is meant to supply 500mA per port, but as laptops need to be power frugal, it is not uncommon for them to supply less than this (sometimes they will only supply 100mA, and that is not enough to wake up the Lexia).

Before letting your son take the laptop try adding a powered USB hub. This will plug into the laptop, and the PSU should allow each port to have 500mA on it, so the Lexia will have enough power to work properly (assuming that a lack of power is the cause of the problem).
