Yes, a 1.6HDi from a Peugeot should be a match for a replacement. It might be an idea to check engine codes out of certaintly.

What caused the engine to break? Snapped camblet or something else?

number 4 cylinder holder on crankshaft broke the bolts, for no reason, it was serviced 5000 kilometers ago, and had full dealership history

It started to make ticking noise, and disappeared again, so I went like 10 mile, and started again, and in few minutes time engine stopped, now I have my engine nearly on the ground, by look from underneath, it looks cheaper way is to get new engine, i think everything in engine will be bent and scratched and.......

Hi,

Sorry I've no knowledge of the C5 or the 1.6 engine, but FWIW my inital thoughts would be not to even consider trying to recondition the crankshaft. If it's bent, surely best to ditch it?

Question is, what other damage has been done, and how/why it happened. There have been other posts on the forum about the 1.6 engine really needing regular oil changes.

As per your initial post, looking for a replacement sounds a good option

I have fitted the PSA engine from a Ford Focus into a Picasso, all brackets matched etc, massive amount of work though.

Hi guys, thank you for replies, con-rod bolts broke off in cylinder no.4 for some reason, I've bought that car few months ago, had serviced about 3000 miles ago, everything by the book, main dealers was servicing before that, friend said, maybe some time it was very low on oil, but I don't know, Ill go in to engineers and they will measure crankshaft, will see from there, maybe will be need to buy new engine for it, and its expensive, thank you

Well, good luck with sorting the engine. If you go down the repair route, then let's hope there's not too much other engine damage.

Hi, yes you'll have to program injectors unless you use your old ones and put them in the same order.
