C5 annoying fault !

On my C5 when i want to go in reverse in i lift the collar up and put it in reverse but the collar sticks and has to be pushed down, Has anyone had this fault and cured it ? I tried spraying WD40 on it but its no better ??

I'd imagine there's a spring in there somewhere, there usually is with these lift collar reverse mechanisms. Its probably broken or very tired.

I too have the same fault. It feels as if the hole in the gear knob is slightly tapered, causing it to grip the collar. I recon a strip down and cutting a few mm off the top of the collar is my next move. Dunno if it will be possible, however, when 've done it, I'll update this post.

Neither my 2.0 or 2.2 have the collar, different gearbox?
