Xantia Heater Controls - Lamp replacement.

Post by David Goddard »

Replacement of the internal illumination lamps on the Xantia heater controls is not well covered by Haynes so for a 1997 model:-
Disconnect the battery –ve.
Remove the tray within the ashtray.
This gives access to remove the two screws retaining the plastic architrave which surrounds the heater controls and the radio. Carefully remove the architrave.
Remove the two screws retaining the radio, unplug and remove the radio.
Remove the four screws retaining the heater control box.
Now need to remove the black plastic cover on top of the heater control box. So pull the box out as far as it will go to give enough access. The cover unclips (no screws).
The lights (2) are on a removable plastic clip. Twist the bulbs out 90deg anticlockwise.
The bulbs are non-standard. Citroen Part no. 611253. Cost £2.00 each
All screws are Torq T20.
Back together, radio code entered – job done.

I don't know about the '97 model, but on my 94 and 95 cars you don't have to unscrew the 4 screws on the heater control box - the bulbs can be replaced with the box in situ. Just carefully prise the black cover off with a small screwdriver.
