Xantia interior lights

Hi There
Can anyone assist please?
1997 Xantia 1.9td interior lights have just stopped working. All ok working off plip and coming on when doors opened then suddenly.....
nothing. Have checked fuse under dash and ok swapped bulbs and still not working. Is there any common cause before I start checking out wiring etc?

the wiring goes via a multiway connector under the passenger footwell carpet. My interior lights started behaving v. badly when the footwell flooded. I doubt thats your problem with all the recent dry weather but it is a common fault with the windscreen scuttle seal.
