My year 2000 Xantia HDi dropped its front offside window recently. Having got inside the door the problem seems to be the regulator, which has a broken wire. Does anyone know the following, please.....?
Do I just need to buy the regulator rather than the motor as well?
The factory price is ludicrous. I have been quoted £431. I can access much cheaper ones, but I have been told that the HDi setup was different from the rest: something about an anti-pinch device, tho this was in the motor, apparently....does anyone know if this is true?
Does anyone recommend anyone to buy from?
I would be extremely grateful for any information received, including anything which I haven't mentioned,
Many thanks,
Stewart Perkins

Re: Xantia window regulator
You Xantia is a mk11, so it is a different regulator entirely, these are not available to my knowledge from the usual sources.
ECP will sell you one, but it will be wrong. I saw a few on eBay that kind of looked ok, but you need to be carefully. You won't need a motor, just the regulator.
If you,are feeling very clever, I believe there is a guy that sells new cables you can fit to,the old reg.

Re: Xantia window regulator
I'll bet that it's the plastic wire retaining/ guide block. Have a look at this site: http://www.oscoautoparts.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; (Osco Trading ltd) When this slide gives way (The cable end nipple breaks out) the wires make a bid for freedom. They rewind onto the regulator quite easily. The part is not available from Citroen on its own. I've recently done a front offside using a part from Osco and it's fine. The white retaining clip they show with the block doesn't work, keep the metal one fitted as standard and re-use it. If it helps I've got some photos of the unit that I took when I repaired mine.

Thanks for this. I thought it might be a bit tricky, but forwarned is forearmed!

I'm at work at the moment, I'll have a go at posting them on here this evening, they may be useful to others. If I get stuck then I'm sure there's a workaround somewhere.
Leave it with me for a while.

There you go, infidel. (link to flikr)
http://www.flickr.com/photos/77195466@N05/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Note how the cables leave the drum in the middle. The white clip with the new green slide block doesn't work, I re-used the original wire one. I've a few more photos but these are the main ones. Shout if you want the others.
The Haynes manual covers removing the door card and it's accurate.
Please excuse photos of the dog, border collies get in everywhere.
Let me know if you need any more help.
