TDC sensor

Post by Big Al »

Can anyone tell me where the TDC sensor is on a ZX 1.9TD engine and what it looks like, I am trying to get my rev counter going (also am I right in thinking its also utilised in one of the engines' fuel / polution control systems?)
Thanks a lot. [:)]

Usually down the back of the block, pointing at the flywheel. If you look up the back of the engine you will see it - it's the only cable down there. There used to be a brown connector over the gear box on the BX that gave trouble with these. Most likely cause is that your head gasket is leaking oil down the back of the block that has gummed the sensor up! Don't know if the later cars use the TDC to feed the ECU or not - possibly.

Thanks Richard
Would that be a brown square three pin in connector? I have one flapping about in the engine bay at present!!

Exactly that one Big Al !
- allthough it's probably the earlier used "Citroen diagnostic" TDC sensor - from the time before ECU's with smart ways of reading out fault codes.
Does not matter - it has the same function - and is the same type of sensor.
