Orange flashing light

Post by Andy »

Hi just a quick question, as I have o Handbook
An orange warning light flashes for about 30 secs after starting engine, on the dash of my 95 xantia 1.9td.
I am just wandering what the light means.
It is orange with a sort of hockey stick shape and a couple of drips in it.

Oil level low warning. Known not to work very well, so use the good old fashioned dip stick and ignore the light! Mine does this also and I was wondering about disconnecting the sensor, but do not know if that will just bring it on permanently - anybody else?

Do you park on a sideways slope?? The oil goes to one side of the sump and fools the sender, it normally takes about 20-30 secs to clear..Normally if the car is leftside up on a verge/curb.

It makes the oil warning light in my Xantia more prone to come on if I use synthetic oil for some reason.

I get the oil warning light flashing if I park with the front end pointing down hill.
