Xantia 2.1Td 1997 starting and running problems

Post by MadmartUK »

Hi everyone im new to this forum and am after some help.
My Xantia 2.1Td Mk1 1997 is playing up.
a while ago i had air in fuel feed and after new sender unit and re-piping fuel feed to filter housing and removing the filter housing and sealing the ö"ring with hydraulic sealant the car is a little better but i keep getting engine management light, then when i try to restart the starter solanoid clicks and the motor wont turn. no its not the starter as it was replaced 2 weeks ago also new ignition switch as that failed to engage the starter.when the car idles it is fluctuating from 850 rpm to 1000 rpm my local Citroen specialist i use tried reading the ecu but it would not communicate. the car is fine on motorway and generaly ok but alters. ruff when cold and when weather is to hot.

could it be the crankshaft sensor or the engine temp sensor that controls the fuel injection or a bad earth.
sometimes after a short journey it wont restart i have to bump it to turn the engine which is why its leading me to the crankshaft sensor

please help

cheers

Martin

If the solonoid is clicking and you are sure that the starter is OK either your battery is flat or you have a bad connection somewhere in the battery to starter circuit.

It's unlikely to be a sensor. 99.9% of all EPIC pump faults are down to air leaks. They are VERY sensitive to air. Check very carefully the leakoff pipes and especially the end blanking plug on the last injector.

Rule filters are favourites and if suspect then replacement is the only answer. Honestly it takes only a smidgen of air and an EPIC is unhappy.
