Peugeot 206, 1.4l Petrol (not sure if its 8v or 16v - not mine), 2006 model.
Then engine cuts out when slowing down, alway's re-starts instantly when using the ignition. Happens everyday, but not all of the time when slowing down, but usually more than once as car is driven majority of time in Urban areas. Occassionaly cuts out when going round corners, only realises when the steering goes stiff, & on some occassions will re-start automatically without touching the ignition.
One garage is convinced that its the Throttle body, so a 2nd hand unit was fitted, result is the same (possibly unlucky with a dodgy 2nd hand part?).
Other parts that might cause the above symptons, ECU? or Coil Pack?
Any thoughts/suggestions would be gratefully received

Re: 206 Petrol Engine Cutting out
No engine management light on ?
Idle control valve springs to mind but that might of been changed as part of the throttle body.
If you cannot get a diagnostic, I'd start with a few basics, ensure air / fuel filters are OK (might not have a fuel filter externally) , clean breather hoses out too if possible.
Check vacuum pipework carefully for leaks.
I think some of these have that odd "pulse air" valve that attempts to warm the cat up quicker with an air pump. These are not common but can cause problems if its not 100%
If you're note sure of 8 vs 16 valve, a pic would help or find one on Google search. 16v head is larger than the 8v.
Typical 8v engine:

Re: 206 Petrol Engine Cutting out
Cheers for your thoughts spider, i'll see if i can check which engine is fitted. A diagnostic sounds the best way tbh, but i don't think the owner can afford the expense of going to a main dealer. Does anyone know of any Peugeot Indy specialists that don't require a 2nd mortgage to get problems fixed? Sheffield area by the way

There might be a friendly FCF owner nearby > http://www.frenchcarforum.co.uk/forum/v ... 19&t=26807" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Who would be willing (able as I think a Lexia will do in most cases?) a diagnostic check for a smaller fee than the dealer would charge.

Re: 206 Petrol Engine Cutting out
Every time I`ve had a 206 idle fault its been the idle control valve, also called a stepper motor. You say the throttle body was replaced, did it come with a valve in it?
The main thing to do after replacing parts is to clear the fault codes and re set the ECU.

It is an 8valve engine. Interesting thoughts about the idle control valve, no idea tbh, thats the problem but cheers for the heads up with the specialist though

Hi Matthew,
I've only just found your message.I don't have Peugeot Planet on the laptop so unless the 206 has a Citroen twin I'm not sure I can help. Maybe a forum member can advise on this?
Steve.
