BX Hydraulic Pressure Loss

Unread post by svesey »

Any suggestions for the following problem on a BX diesel? When started from cold the car builds pressure and rises, as it should. If it is driven quickly whilst cold the hydraulic warning light comes on. It extinguishes immediately on allowing the engine speed to drop e.g. by pressing in the clutch and releasing the accelerator or if you allow the car to slow down. Once the car has done 10 miles or more the problem is usually gone until all cools down again. It is not a fluid level problem. Filters are clean and power steering works OK.
Any Ideas? S.V.

Hi - Have you tried using Hydraflush for a few thousand miles before putting in new LHM. It does work wonders on clogged up hydraulics. - Cheers!

Thanks John
All filters were cleaned including the two in the flow diverter and the system was hydraflushed.

Thats a real weird one.
I would be looking at either a weak pump, or maybe a sticky pressure regulator, if you are completely happy that the LHM is clean and that any air has been bled out by the valve on the pressure regulator.

Hi (again) - Have you got correct tension on the drive belt to the pump?
