I don't think the operating rod has come off as they are connected to different parts so the child lock will function. You do need to get the trim off with the door closed (should be possible, just) to investigate.

Does your remote locking work ? , if so try locking / deadlocking / unlocking a dozen or so times to see if it free's it. I sort of suspect the deadlock is jammed shut but its difficult to say without seeing it.

the lock works fine and the `click` or `clunk` sounds like the bottom latch trying to undo , but not?

Still really need the trim off to see what's going on.

I did a 405 and later a 406 with a stuck one, the 405 was actually more difficult (long chisel) but the 406 the deadlock had jammed so I had to destroy the lock from within the door, not much fun.

I don't recall actually having to take the door trims off an 806 / Expert ever though.

Sorted it...the mech behind the handle has masses of slack so bent the wire slightly. trim is easy to remove with the door shut btw

funny that, my 806 has a stuck door and a clatter from the front end as well.

I think that the outer door handle might actually be broken because it just flaps about without any of the rods moving. In order to get to the outer handle it looks like the inner handle has to come off and that seems to be pop rivetted on

on mine I think it must be something to do with anti roll bar because I noticed I can go over speed humps etc without a noise, but it seems if the wheels are doing something different, that's when I get a load clonk

Maybe the MOT man will find it this year

i found out that above the inner handle there is a hole in the metal which is only exposed when the sound deadening is peeled back
inside the hole there is a nut that takes a 10mm socket, but you can only get a 10mm socket on a 1/4" extension in there because the hole doesn't line up with the nut very well
anyway undo that nut and the outside handle comes off, no need to remove inner handle
there is a metal shaft that runs through the handle which had snapped
on ebay you can get these shafts for a tenner, but only from sellers in Poland
anyway, shaft ordered, arrived a week later and now fitted
all door handles working again

no it's just a standard 10mm socket
you are removing the nut, not the stud
