Hi all
i bet this has been discussed to death but i just need some clarification
306hdi 2.0l 2000 model
car wont start
tank pump not powering up
replaced brown relay its a bitron thing and hey presto it all works
HOWEVER
2 days later its the same problem????
I can power the pump from the lights so the car is drivable but why does this relay keep stop working???
Can i replace the other part of the relay as in the bit on the end of the wiring loom by unpluging it or is it hard wired in??
All help very much appresiated.
thanks
Simon

Don't know much about petrol cars but there is probably a relay which operates the pump, I suspect that is where your trouble lies.

Re: ahggggg help please
I'm pretty sure the relay is a standard tachmetric relay on these, well by that I mean its design ie two relays in one package, one operating the other. Similar to how petrol engine units have one.
You might just be unlucky and have a bad 'new' one I guess. Does the pump run for a couple of seconds when you first switch the ignition on ?

Re: ahggggg help please
This would be real bad luck as its the second time ive replaced it.
the new realy worked fine for 2 days then stopped working its like its stuck open and needs to be closed to supply power to the pump
if i put power to the pump the car starts just fine and runs as normal
take power away even when car is running then it stops
all fuses are ok
all wires seem ok
what i want to know is can the part that the relay plugs into is it replaceable by unplugging it or is it hard wired in which would mean cutting and splicing the wires
Thanks

Re: ahggggg help please
I *think* its part of the front harness, not a separate item.
